History

In May of 2012, the Klallam Native Americans contacted us requesting us to change our name due to them attempting to rekindle their tribe. Humbly, we agreed to the request and proceeded to look for a new name. After long thought and discussion, the chapter decided to rename themselves "Mato Tanka", translating to English as "Great Bear", it refers to the constellation that dominates our night sky and leads us to the Pole Star.

During the first Spring Conclave as the newly renamed Mato Tanka, we had 21 youth and 8 adult show up, and despite other chapters trumping us in numbers, we managed to pull away with the Spirit Cone, a first place in the Website Competition and a second place in a quest event.
